About the owner, Paul.

Paul is the owner of DTX Pet Pet Concierge; a thriving pet care business on Dallas, Texas.

As a former high school teacher, Paul worked part time as a pet sitter/walker when not teaching. After engaging in this role for several years and expanding his clientele, he made the decision to establish his own professional pet service. His affection for animals originated from his childhood experience of owning dogs and cats.

Paul’s initial responsibility involved caring for the pets within his neighborhood, which, in retrospect, seemed to foretell his current lifestyle. Alongside his teaching profession, he also possesses a background in the service industry, and it’s ingrained in his nature to educate and satisfy others. Dog Walking

One of our caregivers will visit your home to walk your dog, or give them some well deserved love and attention. It’s your choice!

We offer a 30 and a 60 minute option. Dog walking includes: feeding, poop pickup, fresh water, administering meds and treats, pictures and updates on your pet(s). Includes care for up to two pets.

Drop-Ins

Great for dogs that just need a potty break or play ball in the yard in the backyard, or a quick walk. Not just for dogs but we also include cats and small pets. For two pets.

Overnight Service

Perfect for spoiling your pet, seniors or pets with health issues.

The overnight service includes care for up to 2 pets. Overnights go from 9pm – 7am additional drop-ins/walks will need to be requested during the daytime hours.

Overnights include: Taking out trash, water plans and mail/package retrieval.

Q. Paul, how did you get started in the pet sitting industry?

Before diving into the full-time pet care industry, I was a high school teacher on the hunt for something more fulfilling. I had a strong itch to work for myself and make a difference in people’s lives. Prior to teaching, I was in hospitality, but my heart was always with animals. So, it just made sense to follow that passion into pet care. Given my background in education and hospitality, coupled with my genuine affection for animals, it became clear to me that the pet care industry was the perfect fit.

Q. What type of clients do you work with?

Our clientele spans across the Dallas metro area, seeking top-tier pet care services to ensure peace of mind. Whether they’re traveling, at work, or enjoying a night out, many of our clients rely on us to provide exceptional care for their beloved pets.

Q. How are you different from other pet sitting services?

Q. Why should a pet owner use a pet sitter?

Following this, we conduct comprehensive reference checks and complete background screenings. At DTX Pets, we specialize in providing straightforward in-home pet care services. Our sitters travel to our clients’ residences to ensure their pets receive the care they need. Whether it’s accommodating travel plans, long work hours, late meetings, post-surgery recovery, or simply a busy day working from home, our team is there to support our clients.

Clients have the flexibility to customize the duration of their DTX Pets visits according to their needs. Additionally, we offer supplementary premium services to enhance both pet and house care routines. In addition to pet care, our team assists with tasks such as mail retrieval, trash removal, light rotation, and curtain adjustments to maintain the appearance of an occupied home while our clients are away.

Q. Will you provide those “gate-keeping” services even if someone doesn’t have a pet?

Absolutely! Many of our clients engage DTX Pets to tend to their homes while they’re away, even if they don’t have pets. This service ensures their residences remain secure and well-maintained during their absence, offering them peace of mind while they travel. So, whether it’s pet care or home care you require, DTX Pets is here to assist you, regardless of whether you have furry friends at home.

Clients have the flexibility to customize the duration of their DTX Pets visits according to their needs. Additionally, we offer supplementary premium services to enhance both pet and house care routines. In addition to pet care, our team assists with tasks such as mail retrieval, trash removal, light rotation, and curtain adjustments to maintain the appearance of an occupied home while our clients are away.

Q. So, you don’t board animals or bring them into your homes?

At DTX Pets, we firmly believe in the value of in-home pet care, which is why we have opted not to operate a boarding facility. Instead, we offer a highly sought- after overnight/house sitting service, where our pet care providers stay at the client’s home. This service is incredibly popular among our clients and is the preferred option for many, including myself, when traveling with our furry companions.

Q. What time do the sitters make their rounds and how long do they stay?

At DTX Pets, our sitters are available to visit our clients’ homes up to four times per day, ensuring regular care and attention for their pets. Our visit times are divided into convenient slots:

  • Early Morning: Between 7 AM and 10 AM
  • Midmorning: 10 AM and 12 PM
  • Midday: Between 12 PM and 3 PM
  • Afternoon: Between 3 and 6 PM
  • Evening: Between 6 and 9 PM

We guarantee that no more than 12 hours will elapse between visits. For instance, if your pet is visited at 8 PM, our sitter will return no later than 8 AM the following morning.

Clients have the flexibility to choose between 30-minute and 60-minute visit durations, allowing them to tailor their pet’s care plan to their specific needs and preferences. Mix and match options are available to create the optimal care routine for each pet.

Q. Are there extra costs for services rendered on a holiday?

At DTX Pets, we recognize the significance of major annual holidays, including New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve Day, and New Year’s Eve. On these holidays, we implement a surcharge in addition to the standard service charge, with 100% of these fees allocated directly to our dedicated sitters.

Q. What is the registration meeting?

At DTX Pets, we prioritize the registration meeting as an essential step before initiating our services. This visit allows clients to acquaint themselves with their assigned DTX Pets caregiver and familiarize them with their pet’s needs and home environment. During this meeting, our pet care provider will introduce themselves, spend quality time with the pet, and review crucial information such as vet contacts, emergency procedures, and any special requests.

We do not commence service until this meeting has occurred. A fee is associated with the registration meeting, which covers administrative expenses related to the client’s account setup, as well as compensates the sitter for their time spent during the meeting.

Q. So, after a client has completed their registration meeting can they schedule service anytime?

Absolutely! At DTX Pets, all our clients get their own login details for their special account. They can use this account to schedule services, check their service calendar, update billing info, and change their password whenever they want. We confirm scheduling requests during our regular hours, from 9AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday. It’s a super handy tool that makes managing pet care a breeze! We do not commence service until this meeting has occurred. A fee is associated with the registration meeting, which covers administrative expenses related to the client’s account setup, as well as compensates the sitter for their time spent during the meeting.

Q. So, after a client has completed their registration meeting can they schedule service anytime?

There are a few reasons why we don’t use retractable leashes:

  • They can become dangerous to the dog and the walking.
  • They allow the dog to get away from you, potentially in trouble or harms way.
  • Leashes are for structure and direction to the dog. Retractable leashes don’t
    provide that.
  • Retractable leashes can break easily and, in some cases, can cause burns or
    other injuries to walker and the dog.

Q. How about last-minute requests?

While we are accommodating to last-minute pet care needs at DTX Pets, we cannot always guarantee immediate availability of a sitter, though in most cases, this isn’t an issue. Our scheduling is confined to our regular business hours, which are from 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Please note that visits booked with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a late booking charge.

Q. What happens if a client’s primary sitter is not available for a pet sitting request?

We have a fantastic team of pet care providers ready to step in if a client’s primary sitter isn’t available. Since we keep all pet care information securely stored in our database, clients don’t necessarily need to meet the alternate sitter. However, if they prefer, we’re more than happy to arrange a “Pre-Departure Meeting” with the alternate sitter. Please note, there’s a fee for this meeting, which covers the sitter’s time and travel expenses to the client’s home. It’s all about ensuring peace of mind and providing the best care possible for our clients and their furry friends!

Q. Can your clients schedule directly through their sitter?

NO! For the safety of our clients’ beloved pets, it’s imperative that all visits are scheduled directly through the DTX Pets office. We’ve implemented a state-of- the-art scheduling program to guarantee that every pet receives the care they need, leaving no room for oversights. If a client schedules directly with their sitter without informing the office, it bypasses our system, making it difficult for us to ensure the pet’s well-being. In such cases, DTX Pets cannot be held responsible for visits scheduled without our knowledge. This policy is in place to uphold the highest standards of care and accountability for our clients’ furry family members.

Q. What do cat visits include?

Cat visits include: Feeding, fresh water, cleaning litter box, playtime, administering meds and treats. Pictures and updates of your pet(s) are included.

Q. How do you handle all of your client’s keys? You must have a ton!

At DTX Pets, we only retain keys for clients who use our services on a continuous, weekly basis. For all other clients, keys are kept under the owner’s control. We firmly believe this is the safest option for our clients and their homes.

Please note that DTX Pets will not assume responsibility for keys that clients request our sitters to keep on file. This policy ensures the security of our clients’ property while maintaining our commitment to safety and accountability.

Q. So, if you don’t keep their keys on file how do the sitters access the homes?

We offer several convenient methods for key exchange, with one of our top choices being the use of a lockbox. This method is not only incredibly easy but also ensures utmost safety for our clients’ keys.

Here’s how it works: When a DTX Pets sitter arrives, they retrieve the key and lockbox from the door and hold onto both throughout the assignment. Then, during the final visit, the sitter returns the lockbox with the key securely inside to the door. Upon their return home, the client can simply remove the lockbox. It’s a seamless and hassle-free process that provides peace of mind for both our clients and our team.

Q. How do you accept payment?

We facilitate payments through the Time To Pet portal, accepting major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card.

Q. So, you don’t accept checks? Can the clients leave cash?

We don’t accept checks as payment. Clients have the option to leave a cash gratuity for their sitter if they’d like, but for service payments, we exclusively accept credit cards. Payment is required four days before the start of the service.

Q. What does it mean that you are bonded and insured?

We understand the importance of trust and assurance when it comes to allowing workers into your home. That’s why we carry both a dishonesty bond and liability insurance.

The dishonesty bond provides reassurance that you’ll be reimbursed in the unfortunate event of theft or loss during our service. It’s a proactive measure to protect our clients’ valuable belongings.

Additionally, our liability insurance policy covers any financial loss resulting from accidents while caring for our clients’ pets. This ensures that our clients are not held liable for any unforeseen incidents that may occur during the course of our services.

As a responsible and professional business, we believe it’s essential to carry both forms of protection. We’re more than happy to provide our clients with proof of insurance and our bond. Simply let us know, and we can easily email you copies of our certificates for your records. It’s all about transparency and ensuring peace of mind for our valued clients.

Q. Do you care for pets that have aggression issues?

For liability reasons, if a pet has a history of aggressive behavior, especially if it has previously bitten someone, we are unable to provide service. However, if a pet is shy or displays minor signs of unease around strangers, we’re happy to collaborate with the owner to develop a tailored care plan.

Our sitter will conduct an interview with both the client and the pet to assess the situation. If additional visits are needed to help the pet acclimate to our care provider, the client must be present during these visits and standard service fees apply until the pet is comfortable.

Please note, if at any time during the service our sitter or the pet owner feels it’s unsafe to proceed, we reserve the right to discontinue service without prior notice. This ensures the safety of our team and the pets in our care while upholding our commitment to exceptional service.

Q. Do you administer medication?

Yes, upon request we can provide medication administration, as well as feeding. We can also provide other services like watering plants, taking out the trash, and retrieving mail at no additional cost, just ask!

Q. How do the pet care professionals discipline the pets?

At DTX Pets, we are committed to using positive reinforcement methods exclusively when caring for your pets. We firmly believe in creating a safe and nurturing environment where pets feel respected and loved. This means we never resort to any form of physical punishment such as hitting, spanking, slapping, or leash yanking, nor do we use harsh verbal methods like yelling.

Additionally, we do not employ shock collars or any other aversive techniques. In the rare event of a behavioral issue, such as toilet training problems or wandering tendencies, we prioritize open communication with our clients. If such incidents occur, we promptly inform the client and collaborate with them to find constructive solutions. Our goal is to ensure a harmonious and positive experience for both pets and their owners, fostering trust and mutual understanding every step of the way.

Q. What happens if a pet becomes ill and the client is out of town or unable to leave work?

If we notice any signs of distress or illness in your pet during our care, we’ll immediately contact you using the emergency phone numbers on file. If you agree that veterinary attention is necessary, we’ll transport your pet to the veterinarian’s office for examination and treatment.

In the event that we’re unable to reach you, we’ll assess the situation and make a judgment call on whether veterinary care is required. If deemed necessary, we’ll take your pet for treatment. Please note that any additional time spent and expenses incurred for these services will be billed accordingly.

Our top priority is the well-being and safety of your pet, and we’ll always take prompt action to ensure they receive the necessary care and attention.

Q. What is the DTX Pets cancellation policy?

DTX Pets implemented a flexible cancellation policy since we understand what it’s like to have a busy and ever-changing schedule. Our cancellation policy can be found on our website.

Q. How does a client go about getting started? How quickly can that happen? What if they have additional questions?

We want to make sure all our pets and their owners are comfortable entering in their territory. Therefore, we do not go to potential clients house without previously having a meet and greet. We like to meet the owners and their pets to talk about the care we will be providing for each pet.
